Snack Shack Frequently Asked Questions:
How do I sign up for a snack shack shift?
All snack shack shifts for regular season games will be available through sign up genius. All shifts will be first come/first serve and will be 2.5 hours each. An email will be sent to all once the sign up genius link has been posted to our website. There is a 5 hour volunteer requirement per family for the Spring season.
Sign up Genius Link: TBD
Who is NOT required to work a shift at the snack shack?
Each team has 5 volunteers who are not required to work the snack shack:
- 1 Head Coach
- 1 Assistant Coach
- 1 Team Parent
- 1 Field Prep Parent
- 1 Scorekeeper
The only other people exempt from working the snack shack are board members, those who have signed up for and/or completed "other" volunteer opportunities offered by FSC, or people who elected not to volunteer and therefore will not be reimbursed for their $100 volunteer fee collected at registration. Some teams have multiple assistant coaches and multiple team parents so if you are unsure if you are exempt, please check with your head coach directly.
What happens if my plans change and I can no longer work the shift I committed to?
If you do not show up for the shift you signed up for, you will automatically forfeit your $100 volunteer fee collected at registration.
You also have the option to swap shifts with another family, or change your sign up to an alternate open shift as long as it is 7 days PRIOR to your shift date. All changes MUST be done at least 7 days PRIOR to your scheduled shift. No changes will be permitted within the 7 day window of your chosen date and will result in a no show if you do not fulfill the hours you committed to. If you are not able to make your shift within the 7 day window, you may choose to hire a teen from the approved list here: TBD to cover your shift, or contact concessions@folsomsoftballclub.com to forfeit your volunteer fee.
How do I get credit for working my shift?
There is a binder at the snack bar with a sign-in sheet. Please fill it out completely as this will be used to give credit to families. If the sign in sheet is not completed, we will not know you've worked your shift.
I have multiple kids in the league, do I have to work multiple shifts?
No, the volunteer requirement is 5 hours per family. If you are filling an exempt volunteer position (see above) for one of their teams, your volunteer requirement for the season will be satisfied.
Rain cancelled the games on the day I was scheduled to work, do I get credit for volunteer hours?
No, if the fields were closed because of rain, most of the games will be scheduled for a later date and we will need snack shack volunteers for those rescheduled games. This will happen a lot.
Where is the snack shack?
The snack shack is located behind the third base dugout at Livermore field 1 which is at 6004 Riley St, Folsom, CA 95630. This is the only location where snack shack shifts will be worked. Folsom Softball Club does NOT operate the Snack Shack at Lembi Park, Sheldon Park, or at John Kemp Park.
Are there any other opportunities besides working the snack shack for me to volunteer?
Yes, but it’s limited. We need volunteers to help with things like evaluations, tournaments, closing ceremonies, picture day and end of the year cleanups but those opportunities are limited. We strongly suggest working a snack bar shift and not holding out hope that you will be able to snag one of those spots.
My daughter is on a Select team, do I still have to volunteer for a snack shack shift?
Yes, unless you are filling an exempt volunteer position (see above). All Select teams are still part of FSC’s recreation program and the volunteer requirement is still the same.
What if I have more questions, who do I contact?
If you have additional questions that have not already been answered in this FAQ, or if you would like to provide an opportunity for a teen to work a snack shack shift for you, please reach out to our Concessions Manager, Kelli Garcia at concessions@folsomsoftballclub.com.
