FSC USA Softball Umpire Program
We are continuing to build a strong umpire program in Folsom. Our program is open to youth starting in 6th grade.
Registration will be opening soon (Dec. 8th) for 2024. See the main page to ENROLL.

- You must enroll by February 10th , 2024 to be eligible to work the 2024 season. The USA Softball registration fee amounts are as follows and covers 1 full year (spring/fall):
- Age 17 and under: $20
- Age 18 and older: $30
- 6th graders must complete a release to work (see Umpire Docs below).
Age 18 and older must complete an USA Background Check form and provide a copy of your drivers license (see Umpire Docs below).

Please note that umpires must be USA Softball certified prior to working any season games.
Training Schedule
Training is scheduled as follows and subject to change due to weather:
December & January - Self Study - Please see FSC Website for training materials, rules and welcome package.
February 3rd - 10am NEW UMPIRE Orientation - Livermore 2
February 10th 10am - 12pm - Training - Livermore 2
February 17th 10am - 12pm - Training - Livermore 2
February 25th (Sunday) 10am - 1pm - MANDATORY - Certification Clinic- Livermore 2
March 2nd & 9th 10am - 12pm - Refresher/Scrimmages - As Needed/TBD
To continue to improve the quality of the Folsom umpire program the following requirements must be met:
New & 1st year returning:
6 hours of training + pass written exam
2nd year returning:
4 hours (if you have been cleared through training) + pass written exam
Junior umpires: 3 hours of training & help with a training session (unless released by UIC)
Senior umpires: 3 hours of training & help with a training session (unless released by UIC)
Additional training dates may be assigned depending on need for help with new umpires.
Equipment -
Indicator - Umpires will need to go to a sporting goods store and purchase their own indicator. Examples
Umpire Tee Shirt - Dri-fit Umpire t-shirts ($18) are required and optional sweatshirts ($30) are available to purchase. Please contact me (UIC@Folsomsoftballclub.com)
Timer - Umpires should purchase their own timer (timer should be a basic stove timer that times down and alerts once time has expired) and carry it with them at all times. It is difficult to use your cell phone or a watch if it does not have a clock down with an alarm at expiration.
Sweatshirt (Optional) - Umpire sweatshirts are available for $ in the league store or at registration. **Please hold, more info. to come.
